Hfour was invited to exhibit works at Barbarella, a festival in the Dominican Republic sponsored by Presidente. The producers wanted to engage attendees in a unique way, adding to the stadium experience with an art zone. We decided to create a larger version of our projection mapped sculpture, the Quantal Quilt, as well as showcase the Generate Videobooth.
Barbarella’s theme in 2018 was related to an interstellar space ship landing on earth. For the Quantal Quilt installation, Hfour made custom content of sci-fi planetary orbit scenes as well as conceptual graphics of near-light-speed travel.
The Quantal Quilt is an interactive installation. When people walked in front of the Quilts, their silhouette was propelled into hyperspace. This absolutely delighted audiences and left a huge social media impression on Instagram.
Hfour worked closely with the local Dominican production company to fabricate the quilt locally. Fabrication plans and installation instructions were sent to the team in Santo Domingo a few weeks before the Hfour team arrived on site to supervise the finishing touches of the installation and to install the technical projection and interactive components.
